Hello all! I'm back off my holidays now (have been for a few days) but today is the first time I've made a project start to finish since before I left ... today's card is made with The East Wind 'Lucy Loo, Fire dance'
I bought the image last night, and was nearly finished colouring up when one of my pens decided to go BLORT and wrecked it. so this is take two, with a couple of changes from the original , including changing the skin tones used.
I used the following colours :-
apricot, spice and pastel yellow for the hair, burnt orange, pumpkin, amber, honeycomb and pastel yellow for the flames, burgundy, cardinal and crimson for the dress, and burnt orange, coral, baby pink and blush for the skin.
Additional ingredients were ;- satin flowers, card candi, 2 different colours of coredinations cardstock, papers from papermania sew lovely and (eeep the name of the other collection eludes me!)
1 diecut flourish behind the flowers and also used a sizzix houndstooth embossing folder and some sand paper. the sentiment was created in word. ooh i almost forgot... I used distress ink on all the edges to create a burnt effect..but subtly ;)
Hope you like it, I'm quite happy with it and the image reminds me of the old days. I was a bit of a wild child and I did have my own set of fire clubs, so as soon as I saw the image, I just had to buy it! fond memories :)

OMG, this is so FLAMING BRILLIANT, Rachel! Your colrong and fab and all the colors work perfectly together. Glad you mentioned the embossing. First glance I thought it was patterned paper but the texture with the sanding looks great. Fabulous sentiment too. Thanks for joining our Use a Sentiment Challenge at The East Wind. xxD
ReplyDeleteThank you Donna :D i'm so glad my pen didn't explode the second time round! I decided to get creative with the embossing as I still don't have many papers - it was hard finding enough that worked together, so i brought some of the orange into the foreground!
