Hello everyone, it is that time again! this is your midway reminder for the LOC Challenge blog challenge #23 'Scary Stories'

Good morning everyone! Here is the midway reminder for the Scary stories challenge, sponsored by Ikes Art!

This is my second DT card for the fantastic Left Of Center Challenge blog and I am really enjoying myself. this is yet another fantastic designer that is new to me, and you can find their work at Ikes art (link in the title)
the LOC theme is 'scary stories' and this image definately reminded me of Edgar Allen Poe's the Raven...

This card had me going out of my comfort zone slightly, which is definitely a good thing, and surprise surprise, I had real fun making it!

Ingredients-
Papermania Bexley Black capsule collection floral paper in 12x12
Papermania madame payrauds paper in 12x12
dark purple Core'dinations cardstock
Dawn Bibby antique brads from stash
black jewelled brad from stash
tim holtz tattered florals flower printed with a PSX background stamp and antiqued with Vintage photo Distress ink and dabbed with tuxedo black memento ink and a purple archival ink pad
Promarkers ; almond, blush and oatmeal
aubergine, amethyst and lilac,
black, cool grey 5-3
all stuck down with Anitas Tacky Glue

For this card I made a card blank by folding a piece of my A4 white 220 gsm cardstock in half  to make a tent fold card blank.
I cut a piece of purple core'dinations to the same size as the front of the card blank and then I sanded the edges that would show to distress it slightly. on top of that i matted the piece of Bexley black paper which I distressed along the edges using a youtube tutorial - I have no paper distressing tool and have been experimenting with distressing techniques just using my fingernails!
I coloured the image using the promarkers listed above, actually going back the day after originally colouring it to add some more depth and definitions to the shadowing on the dress, which I had found a bit of a challenge ( I hope I got it right!)
I then cut round the outline and matted it on top of a piece of paper from the madame payrauds paper pack, which I had distressed using the fingernail method. this piece I wanted to look more antiqued so I ran my Vintage photo stain dabber over the edges, and curled up a couple of the corners ( making sure I got the stain on the backs of the corners I was curling!
even though only a little of the cardstock behind would show, I crumpled and sanded it before flattening it out and adding the paper and the image to it... I then set that to one side and set to work on the 'stripes' , which I crumpled, sanded then trimmed to size. I made the holes for the brads to go through with my oh so useful pokey tool, and I poked through into a foam pad I keep for the purpose . the rest of the cardstock strips were glued down with anitas tacky glue, and once dry I gently dabbed them with some memento and the vintage photo stain to age them... then I glued down the image, making sure to leave a couple of mm at the left of the image peeking through . as my final touch I added a hand stamped and assembled tim holtz tattered florals flower that was severely attacked with my distress stain before assembly, then finished with a black sparkly brad.

hope you like the card and gain some inspiration from it , however little, and if you haven't joined the challenge yet you can do so now as there is a week left !
dont forget to check out the other design team members work on the blog whilst you are there
and i am happy to answer any questions you have for me too!
